South Sudan
I am an 11 year old girl my name is Aliyah. I have 1 younger brother and 1 older brother. My younger brothers name is Kai, he is 2 and my older brothers name is Jenell, he is 13. I also live with my mom and dad my moms name is
Vaniqua and my dads name is Jimar. My family lives in South Sudan. We live in a village in a tiny hut that we share with another family. Each day my brother and I go searching for water I don’t mind the walk but it can get very tiring. My dad works at our village he builds stuff like tables chars bottles and much more. My dad earns my family's money but at the end of the day my dad and the family we live with combine there money to buy dinner. The other family we live with has a family shop, they all work there. The other family is like my family they have a mom a dad 2 sons and a daughter and there all older then us.

My morning routine is waking up early going to get water with my younger brother.

We eat anything that we find that’s edible that doesn’t need to be cooked like berries and more we also eat that as our lunch. Then we come back home much later eat dinner help my dad fix up any tiny problems with our hut and go to sleep. My day is pretty boring but sometimes I get to rest and play games but not that often. The family we live with daughter (my friend) share a room we sleep on a sheet on the floor its not comfortable but I am used to it by now, after my friend and I talk for a little bit we end up falling asleep.

The pros and cons of living in south Sudan. The cons are it can be scary sometimes because you can here people shooting there food and you never know when someone wants to invade our hut or you never know if an animal is
going to destroy our hut. And the pros are that I live with my family and that we are happy.

  1. It's so nice that you are happy! But I am very scared of the soldiers too. I lost my mother to them.

  3. Hello Aliyah, I am also a lot like you. I am scared of the soldiers because they killed my dad and that ruined a lot for my family. I really hope your life is successful and your family thrives!

  4. Hi Aliyah, I'm Nala. Where do you buy your food from? I usually just get food from a bush or tree. If I get lucky sometimes I find sugar cane or peaches. Those berries look so good, but sometimes we all have to be careful not to get a poisonous berry. I would love to meet you

  6. Hello! My name is Zarifa. My family doesn't really drink water. Well we just drink the liquid from the stew. I would love to one day be able to drink clean water. Do you think that you are getting enough water every day? Why?
